Sound familiar?
When a tendon or joint will not settle.
Tendon and joint pain can hang on long after you have rested it, and a shoulder can still ache after every swing.
PRP is one of the regenerative options at our medical clinic.
The short answer
What are PRP injections?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. A small sample of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge, which separates the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma. That plasma is then injected into the area being treated, here at the clinic.
How it works
We find the driver
Your provider examines the area and reviews your history.
We prepare it here
If PRP fits your findings, your sample is prepared and injected in the clinic.
We plan the follow-through
Guided rehab and chiropractic care are planned around the injection.
Who it may suit
- Adults whose exam supports an injection
- Adults ready to follow a rehab plan between visits
- Adults who want the injection and the rehab in one clinic
Who should not have it
- Pain your exam traces to a source an injection cannot reach
- An injury that needs urgent or surgical care first
- Anyone not ready to follow a rehab plan between visits
At each follow-up we check how the area is responding and adjust your rehab with you.

I went through APS therapy plan and have had great results. My flexibility and strength have improved greatly. I appreciate all the educational support they give free during therapy. I was also sent home with at home exercises that continue to stretch and strengthen my capabilities. Lastly, I HIGHLY Recommend doing the stem cell and PRP therapies....
Individual results vary.

How long will a PRP injection last?
There is no set answer, because it depends on the condition and the area treated. Cleveland Clinic notes that providers cannot predict with certainty how PRP will work for any one person.
Is pain normal after a PRP injection?
Yes, some pain and swelling at the injection site is common at first, and the pain can increase for the first week or two. Like any injection, PRP can also cause bleeding or infection at the site. Call the clinic if the pain keeps building or anything about the site worries you.
Who is not a good candidate for PRP?
People with certain blood conditions may not be good candidates, and an injury that needs urgent or surgical care comes first. Your provider reviews your history and medications before recommending PRP.
How much will PRP cost?
Prices are not posted online, because the cost depends on your plan. Cherry financing lets you pay over time, with no hard credit check to apply.
Is the injection guided by ultrasound?
For a joint, yes. All joint injections at our clinic are guided by ultrasound for precise placement.
How long does a PRP appointment take?
Cleveland Clinic puts a therapeutic PRP injection, from the blood draw through the centrifuge to the injection, at about an hour. One vial of blood or several may be drawn.
Do I need to stop any medicines before PRP?
Possibly. Your provider might ask you to stop certain medicines before the injection, such as blood thinners or NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
How is PRP different from ordinary blood?
Blood is mostly a liquid called plasma, with small solid parts: red cells, white cells and platelets. PRP has 5 to 10 times as many platelets as a normal blood sample. Platelets help blood clot, and they carry hundreds of proteins called growth factors.
