Chiropractic BioPhysics in Redmond, OR

Posture you can measure.

Chiropractic care that measures your posture first, then works to change it.

A provider uses a spine model to explain posture and spinal curves

Sound familiar?

When posture keeps loading the same spot.

Maybe your head sits forward, your upper back rounds or your spine has shifted to one side. Posture like that can keep stress on the same joints and muscles, and the strain can show up as back pain, neck pain or headaches.

CBP is the posture-focused chiropractic care at our Redmond clinic, and it is built on measurements from your X-rays.

The short answer

What does Chiropractic BioPhysics focus on?

Chiropractic BioPhysics, or CBP, is a chiropractic approach focused on posture and the curves of the spine. Digital X-rays measure your spinal angles and posture, which gives a baseline, a target and a way to track change. A CBP plan may include mirror-image adjustments, traction and posture exercises.

How it works

  1. Measured on X-rays

Your provider measures your posture and spinal curves on digital X-rays.

  2. The mirror image

Adjustments and exercises work your posture toward the mirror image of its shift.

  3. Traction and exercises

Traction and posture exercises are added to support the change.

Who it may suit

  • A rounded, slouched upper back
  • A spine shifted to one side
  • Back or neck pain tied to posture

Who should not have it

  • Pain from a joint outside the spine
  • A fresh injury that needs urgent care first
  • Anyone looking for a single visit

Follow-up X-rays, measured against your baseline, show whether your posture is changing.

Questions

Questions about X-rays and traction.

Still unsure? Call (541) 923-6024, Monday to Thursday.

What is a mirror-image adjustment?

In CBP, mirror image means working your posture in the opposite direction of the shift your X-rays show. If your head sits forward or your spine leans to one side, adjustments, exercises and traction are set up to move it the other way.

What is hyperkyphosis?

It is a rounded, slouched upper back, where the natural curve of the upper spine is larger than normal. A published CBP case report measured this curve as an angle on side-view X-rays of the whole spine and compared it with a normal value.

How much radiation does a spine X-ray use?

A low back X-ray is about 1.4 mSv, about the same as 6 months of natural background radiation, according to RadiologyInfo. One chest X-ray is about 0.1 mSv, close to 10 days of background radiation.

How long does a CBP plan take?

It depends on your starting measurements, your goals and how steadily you keep up with the exercises. Changing posture and spinal curves is gradual.

What does traction do in a CBP plan?

Traction gently holds your spine toward a corrected position, set up from what your X-rays show. Published CBP methods pair it with mirror-image exercises and adjustments.

What should I bring to my first CBP visit?

Bring any X-rays, MRI images or reports from other offices, and a list of the medicines you take. It also helps to note when your pain started and what makes it better or worse. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, because your provider looks at how you stand and move.

Do I still need to exercise at home?

Yes. Posture exercises are often part of a CBP plan, and they carry the work between visits. Your provider shows you which exercises to do and how often, and checks how they are going at your visits.

Can I have CBP and regular adjustments?

Yes. A regular adjustment works on how one joint moves. CBP adds X-ray measurements of your posture, and its plan can include traction and posture exercises.
